What's New

OK, I'm really sorry I haven't updated in A LONG TIME.

I've been typing posts but not having access to the internet for long enough to post them.

This isn't a post about what I've been up to at all, but instead a post about what I'm about to be doing. This is all very exciting right now. I'll get round to posting what I have done ASAP in a separate post.

OK, so for a long time now I've been teaching in the Secondary school with no real links with Sikles Primary.

Now however, I'm about to start a Child Friendly School Improvement Project with the staff there. That means making the environment welcoming and inspiring to pupils, implementing systems and considering new teaching approaches which promote learning and happiness in school and a number of other things. I'll keep detailing this project as it goes along over the next few months.

The most obvious change you'll see is the classrooms will begin to look more like what those of you in the west recognise as a primary school, and less like what you'd recognise as an emergency shelter or prison.

To give you an idea of where we're starting from, here is a typical classroom in the school as it is now:

Anyone who has any advice for us, useful links, or wants to donate resources or help raise funds for this project, please please please get in touch.

Also, currently compiling the 3rd draft for the Sikles community photo project started by Dr Sara Parker. Will post more on that closer to the release date of the book, but some fantastic photos by some naturally talented photographers, watch this space closely.

  2. Hey, yeah, need to get my post-on, have fallen behind on the whole blog thing a little. Going to start constructing a big post of proper updateness. Also, when we have a definite release date for the book I'll start informing people about that too.

So much I need to put on here.

  3. Hi not sure if you are still interested, or how things have progressed since but I was wondering if you still need funding/resources for the school. GMIN UK is going to be doing some fundraising for a cause such as this. Do get back if you might be interested. Thanks
